The ultimate Dove Cottage tour (& where everything's from!)

house tour featuring links for everything from lounge, kitchen, dining room, hallway, bedrooms and bathroom

I often receive a lot of questions about the bits I've got in my home, so I thought I'd use a quick little house tour as an excuse to write the ultimate guide to Dove Cottage - with absolutely everything I own, where I got it from and all the links I can find! Naturally some things are now unavailable, so also I've tried to find some similar alternatives too, in case that's helpful.

Outside

Hallway

The hallway was always a bit neglected (think discarded shoes & junk mail galore) until I gave it a bit of a mini-makeover last year (read more here) - it's definitely a better reflection of the rest of the house now, and gives a much better first impression. It's so easy to forget about a hallway as 'lost space' and just write it off, but I think its so important to enabling the other rooms of your home to flow well, and my mini-revamp proves you can style even the smallest of areas.

My least favourite room of the house, I’m not ashamed to admit, however at least this one corner is ok!

Lounge

This room has gone through some serious redecorating since we moved in (have a look at my makeover post for some truly shocking before pics), starting with a blue & cream style about four years ago, slowly transitioning to a more neutral grey theme more recently. I’ve found it a particularly difficult room to get ‘just right’ due to its odd shape, plus with no fireplace or main feature area in here I've gone through lots of variations of layout, however am happy with where we're at now with this room.

Conservatory

A complete lifeline for us as we wouldn’t have a dining area if it wasn’t for this room. Although it can be a bit of a struggle to use in the winter months, it’s my favourite space once the sun comes out, and has been really fun to style.

Master bedroom

When we moved in this room was very plain (have a look at the before pictures here) so I tried to brighten it up, falling in love with the yellow and grey combination of this wallpaper. I’ve recently revamped some dated wardrobes which have changed the whole look and feel of the room entirely, making it seem so much brighter in here too.

Spare bedroom

This room has seen the most change, with four incarnations in less than four years (previously a snug, office and nursery), but I’m finally happy with where we’re at - a calming, scandi-inspired guest room. I’ve actually got plans for a further tiny revamp with a feature wall behind the bed, but for now it’s my little retreat away from it all!

Bathroom

This is the room that’s had the least changes made since we’ve lived here, mainly due to the fact that the full renovation I’d like to do in here is financially not possible, so I’ve had to do what I can through styling and accessories alone (you can read more here) - but two years on I’m still in love with the main feature in this room, my ladder shelves. Such a great way to utilise some lost space by the door here, and I can style the shelves differently as my tastes change.

Nursery

Originally home to the old version of our guest room, this is now my daughters nursery, and my new favourite room in the house - I think it works so much better as a nursery than it did before. I’ve got a few final additions to come, but I’m so happy with it so far.

Garden

I’m not a fan of gardening (as you can probably tell!) however after giving my patio a mini Miami-inspired revamp last summer, I cannot wait for the warmer weather to come back round so we can get out here again! It’s also a space I had the most fun styling as I felt like I could be braver with bright, tropical colours and was so pleased with my efforts. Isn’t it just calling out for a pina colada!

Ensuite & Downstairs Loo

I can't lie, there's another two whole rooms in my house I've failed to mention here, and for good reason - they're both completely un-photographable! I’m planning a couple of mini makeovers in them both though, so hopefully I’ll be able to share these rooms (for the first time ever!) in the next couple of months - although if you never hear anymore about this, you'll know they went horribly wrong!

Let me know if I've missed anything, or you have any questions at all.

Thanks for reading,
Sam Xx
