Weekend Mini-Make: DIY plant pot

how to draw a design onto a plant pot with a sharpie maker pen to create a boho scandi style pattern. Easy, simple and cheap DIY craft using things you already own.

I'm back with another Weekend Mini-Make today: a quick craft you can complete over the weekend for less than a tenner. And even better than that, all my mini-makes are designed to be something beginners can try their hand at, whilst also being a relaxing, well-being boost. As I've mentioned before, I regularly turn to DIY and crafting when times get hard, so for me, having a creative outlet has become a vital part of my everyday life. I hope that these simple, cheap crafting ideas will inspire others to have a go, and see if it can make big changes in their life too.

So this week I thought I'd feature my quickest craft yet with things that everyone has laying around at home - hand-drawing a pattern onto a plant pot. This is a really simple way of jazzing up some basic plant pots with only a permanent marker, and is the perfect way to let your creativity run wild!

Total spend: £0

You will need:
Ceramic plant pot - These ones were originally from The Range, for £3.99 & £2.99 each
Permanent marker pen - You can pick these up for around £1 each in most supermarkets

There really is very little to this one, I've basically taken a sharpie to a plant pot, that's about it. If you wanted to though you could use porcelain paint, after which you will then need to bake the pot in the oven. For simplicity though, I've decided to stick with pen, and it was definitely a bit easier to draw neat lines too.

I went for a face-style pattern, as I've seen lots like this all over the place lately, however you could literally draw anything you like! How about some polka dots? Or a cool abstract pattern?

Leave to dry for a few seconds, after which the pen won't budge. I haven't tried to wash mine up yet, but I wouldn't recommend putting the pots in the dishwasher, and being careful when washing.

And there you have it - a quick and simple way of revamping your boring pots without buying new.

Hope you enjoyed this quick and simple DIY - let me know if you make one, I'd love to see! And I'll be back next Friday with another quick craft perfect for completing over the weekend.

Sam Xx
