Conservatory updates for all budgets (from £50!)

Budget friendly inspiration for updating your conservatory or sun room, for all budgets. Interior design inspiration and home decor

Its time for another of my £50 room revamps, where I put together some budget updates for every room in the house.

This time I'm focusing on the room I struggle with in my home the most - conservatory. While its great to have that extra space, a conservatory is a bit of a pain - its either too cold to use throughout the winter, or boiling hot during the summer. We use ours as a dining space, as there’s simply no space anywhere else for a table, and its also invaluable for toy storage. However as I hope I’ll show, with some simple touches you can make big changes to how you feel about any space.

So keep reading for ideas on what you could do to revamp your entryway, even if you've only got a few pounds to spend. Obviously I've picked a colour theme/style at random, but this is just to give you some ideas of what you can do with your budget.

Please note: I have priced up these items according to my rather modest-sized 4m x 3.5m conservatory, so bear that in mind if you're blessed with a bigger one! I've also not included any labour costs, as they can vary greatly according to where you are in the country, although everything I’ve included here you could install yourself with some basic DIY.

Even if you've only got a small budget to play with, there's still lots of big changes you can make. As always, start with a big declutter and deep clean, getting rid of anything you don't need or no longer love. If your conservatory is anything like mine, it'll be a bit of a dumping ground, so be brutal. I've shared lots of decluttering tips previously, which you can find in this post here.

Next up, if your conservatory is looking a little worse for wear, why not give it a lick of paint? White UPVC can often start to look yellow and sun bleached as its ages, so painting the windows, door and other plastic parts can give it a completely new, fresh look. Make sure you use specific-UPVC paint, which you can find in most hardware stores.

Finally, now everything is looking cleaner and brighter, why not add some plants to bring nature indoors. I've added some faux plants in the mood board below, as the conditions in my conservatory aren't the best for keeping things alive (that could just be my fault though!)

Conservatory budget: £250
A budget of £250 means you can replace some of your furniture that lives in your conservatory, and add some invaluable storage. A floor lamp will add some atmosphere and a level of cosiness, and why not use a trolley to create a bar cart area?

Adding a a rug always transforms a space, zoning off areas and adding some texture. However, from experience, not all soft rugs will survive a winter in a cold conservatory, so an outdoor rug would be a better option. Finally, I've popped another large plant, because you can never have too many, can you?!

Conservatory budget: £500
Should you have a budget of £500 to play with, you can make big changes like updating the floor. I've previously laid tiles like this in my kitchen - its such a simple DIY, and one of the biggest impacts of everything I've done in there. I've been thinking about doing the same in my conservatory, as we've currently got a very old, damaged vinyl in there. Replacing the floor like this would brighten up any space, and give it a completely new feel.

Next up, if you don't have any heating in your conservatory, you could add a radiator which would regulate heat in the winter and make the space more usable. Finally, I've added some more storage space, and a hanging plant - which would work to connect high ceilings to the space.

Conservatory budget: £1,000
Finally, if you've got a larger budget you could add some wooden blinds, which would work to hide any ugly views (our view is a rather unattractive brown fence!), and help to keep the space cool in the summer months. You could also add some comfy furniture, and soft lighting to create a more liveable space, and somewhere you'd want to relax in.
