Christmas Home Tour 2019

Christmas home interior inspiration in this small home christmas tour. How to style your home for christmas this year on a budget, with lots of decorations re-used from previous years.

Because everyone loves an Christmas home tour, right?! In the run up to December I usually flirt with the idea of changing things up and going for a bold colour choice - last months 'Update your Home for Christmas for £20' is always to blame - but always go back to the same old favourite theme of white and gold. Might be a bit boring, but I love this look. And it means I can add to my collection with a couple of new bits every year rather than replacing everything.

You can have a look at how my home has changed over the years with my previous Christmas home tours here: 2018, 2017, 2016. You'll spot that's the same Christmas tree throughout the years, with the accessories and other bits slowly added to over time.

Our Christmas tree is a 6ft one from Dunelm about five years ago, and fits this space perfectly. I think if we move one day I'll look at updating it, but it'll do for now. Our new addition this year is a cute fairy on top which was from White Stuff last year. The baubles are from a mix of places, the plastic ones were from Sainsbury's a couple of years ago, and my more fancy glass ones are a mixture of John Lewis and Fenwick (positioned higher up the tree than last year due to nosey little fingers!)

I've recently swapped our bookcase which stood in this corner for a side table - more opportunities for a good old faff! I've popped my homemade dried orange slice garland - make your own with my DIY tutorial here - some books in a complimentary colour and a few candlesticks to create a cosy atmosphere.

Every year I also decorate up my stairs banister with a garland and some fairy lights. This is actually made up of three garlands I picked up in The Range about five years ago - they've got a wire in them making it easier to wrap around, and even hook up to one another so super handy when putting it up, as its not the easiest job in the world. I love the way it looks against the now dark woodwork this year too.

One new thing I have added this year is an artificial wreath on the front door. As much as you can't beat a real wreath, I do love going faux simply because it means you can get it out nice and early without the risk of dying (although you do risk funny looks from neighbours!), and an artificial wreath will obviously last for years to come too.I found this one in Homesense.

I've also added a homemade wreath too - because I can never resist a Christmassy craft! I knocked this up using woollen pom pots. Its so easy to make, and cost me absolutely nothing as everything I used were bits leftover from previous crafts. A full DIY tutorial is over here

And finally my only real indulgence every year when it comes to decorations is my favourite Christmas scent - Winter from The White Company, which I'm itching to get burning. Honestly, its the most beautiful festive scent. My mum has always burnt it over the festive period, so it takes me right back to Christmases at home. I've popped it on a candle plate in my kitchen along with a bargain £3 mini real tree from Tesco.

Are you all decorated up for Christmas yet? What colour theme are you going with this year? If you're on the lookout for some new decorations make sure to check out my annual 'update your home for Christmas for £20' post here - which has my pick of over 85 decorations available on the high street this year, all for bargain prices.

Sam Xx
