Before & After: Bedroom Makeover

How we transformed our cluttered, drab room into a vintage shabby-chic master bedroom, opening up the space and brightening it up, all on a tight budget.

After sorting out the disaster of a lounge, the master bedroom in our home was the next room to receive a makeover, as it was crying out for a bit of an update, and needed some 'shabby-chicing' (as with everything in my house, as I'm sure you've noticed)!

This was what it looked like when we viewed the property:

Clunky over-the-bed storage felt like it was taking over the already small room (plus the hubby kept hitting his head on it!), so were the first things to go, and were replaced with Laura Ashley wallpaper to create a feature wall - instantly transforming the space.

Our bed, also from Laura Ashley, and bedside tables from IKEA created a 'french chic' feel. I couldn't believe it when I found this beautiful mirror for a complete bargain £4.99 from B&M, which I think works so well in here.

I searched for ages for the right cushions, buying and returning about five different combinations, before I discovered these from Dunelm and Next Home, which perfectly picked out the yellow and grey in the wallpaper. I also spent a while looking for the right throw, eventually coming across a beautiful grey one in Sainsbury's.

I finished the room off with a blind and lamps from Dunelm, for which I jazzed up the shades with a grey ribbon tied into a bow, and some marquee LED letters in our initials from homefullofdreams.co.uk. The 'LOVE' ceramic wall hanging and ring holder were both from Next Home.

Finally, I bought this beautiful handmade print as an anniversary present for my husband. It features lyrics from our wedding first dance song, and was made by the fab @Gingerhearts over on Instagram.
