Houseplants just don't seem to be going away do they?! They've been having a 'moment' for a while now, and what's not to love? Well, the commitment I suppose. Adding a touch of nature and bringing the outdoors in will always look good, but I just cannot keep anything alive. So faux is always the way to go in our house!
I've built up a nice little stash of artificial flowers and plants that add some colour to my home, without the fear that they're going to give up and die on me. Now I've tried a LOT of artificial plants, and I mean a LOT. Some are amazing, and have pride of place in my home, and others I've been less than impressed with. We won't talk about the eucalyptus stems I ordered off eBay which went straight into the bin.
Artificial blooms
My go-to place for faux flowers is Homesense - they have such a huge range, updated seasonally, and for really reasonable prices. Most of their range is sold as single stems too, meaning you can mix and match and create your own displays. My favourite bunch is made up of 6 faux hydrangeas from Homesense, and makes a large feature perfect for side tables or shelves.
My go-to place for artificial greenery is IKEA - they have a huge range at decent prices. These eucalyptus stems are my favourite ever purchase though, they're from John Lewis and are a really great quality.
I've picked out some of my favourite artificial plants available on the high street this season, that mean you can still take part in the trend without the worry of killing off your decor. No-one need know!

Tips for finding a good artificial plant
- Don't buy online - you need to feel the leaves/petals in person to get a real sense of how realistic they are.
- The darker the leaves the more realistic looking they are - don't ask me why but its just something I've found. Light green leaves always seem to look really plastic-y, but darker coloured ones look much better
- Add some water to your vase of blooms to give the impression of a real bouquet
- Spend a little more for something really realistic - you get what you pay for really seems to come into play with fake plants
- Sometimes the fake 'soil' can let the rest of the plant down - hide it in a bigger pot
Would you recommend any realistic artificial plants and flowers? I'd love to know what you've found on the high street!
