Ten-minute ways to keep your home clean & tidy*

*Ad - This is a sponsored post*

Remember your home before you had kids and pets? There was no sticky fingerprints on the doors, crisps stayed in the packet and not smashed into the rug, and your lounge smelt of that expensive White Company candle and not nappies. Cleaning up after my one-year-old (and scatty dog!) is seriously a full-time job - so here's three quick tips for cleaning when time is tight.

1. Clean 'as and when'
I used to leave my housework for the weekend, having a huge 'top to bottom' purge which would take all Saturday morning. However, I just can't live with the mess during the week, so now clean 'as and when', meaning I can get things done in no time at all. Getting the hoover out for a quick two-minute speed clean every night once my daughters gone to bed, means I can keep on top of things much easier. I do the same with cleaning the loo and sink everyday too whilst waiting for the bath to run (no time is wasted with me!)

2. Hidden storage close to hand
I've mentioned this one so many times before, but with having a tiny home this is a big one for me. Having lots of storage space (and it doesn't have to be ugly storage either!) close to hand means I can tidy quickly. The baskets in my TV unit are amazing for chucking all the toys in at the end of the day, which I can usually do in less than five minutes. This means I can have a tidy living room, even if only for a couple of hours in the evening! I also have belly baskets in three rooms (nursery, lounge & conservatory) meaning anything else lying around can just be chucked in there at the end of the day.

3. Good quality cleaning products
I tend to find if you use decent stuff, you don't need to spend as much time (or elbow grease!) on the big jobs.

I've recently been trying out Spontex's Microfibre Window Kit, Microfibre Kitchen Kit and Microfibre Bathroom Kit, as well as their Magic Effect Microfibre Cloths. I'll be honest I was dubious about how well they'd work to the fact you use the cloths with just water and no product, however have been really impressed with them! The window cleaning kit was my favourite, and it took less than ten minutes to clean all the windows and doors in my conservatory and really did leave them sparkling. I did find that I needed to use a bit more elbow grease in the kitchen, particularly on my cooker hood, however this could have been due to the fact we'd just had a Sunday morning fry-up.

Here's some before and after's (just please don't judge the state of my taps before!)

The cloths clean surfaces and dry four times faster than other cleaning methods, so great for when you're short of time. More info about the cloths, and where you can purchase them are below.
