Hallway updates for all budgets (from £50!)

Inspiration for updating your hallway decor on a budget. How to create a big impact in your home using decoration and accessories for different budget

Its time for another of my £50 room revamps, where I put together some budget updates for every room in the house.

This time I'm focusing on the hallway. Often overlooked, but important as its the first impression visitors will get of your home. I've long struggled with my hallway - its long and thin and difficult to style without feeling cluttered. However, with some simple touches you can make big changes to how you feel about any space.

So keep reading for ideas on what you could do to revamp your entryway, even if you've only got a few pounds to spend. Obviously I've picked a colour theme/style at random, but this is just to give you some ideas of what you can do with your budget.

Please note: I have priced up these items according to my rather modest-sized 2.5m x 5m hallway, so bear that in mind if you're blessed with a bigger one! I've also not included labour costs for things like the laying of the floor, as they can vary greatly according to where you are in the country.

Even if you've only got a small budget to spare, there's still lots you can do to make an impact in your hallway. Start by giving the space a deep clean and declutter - as ever, be brutal and get rid of anything you no longer love or need. This is something I do regularly in our home, and you can find lots of decluttering tips here. Giving the walls a lick of paint will make the room feel fresher, and then pop some new accessories in, such as a new doormat and some dried grass or flowers in a vase. Finally, grab yourself a basket to pop all the shoes in, to keep things clutter-free.

If you've got a little more money to play with, some big redecoration could be on the cards. Adding some panelling is super on-trend right now, but can make a huge impact to a plain space on a really tight budget - I previously added some in my boring downstairs loo, and still love it. You'll have money left in the pot afterwards to add some accessories such as a rug - my favourite way of adding some texture and interest to any space - a mirror, and some add some additional storage.

A bigger budget of £500 means you can update some of the larger pieces in your hallway. Adding a shoe cupboard is a great way of hiding away clutter without taking up too much space - I've got this IKEA cupboard in our hallway and its super slim. Replacing the flooring will make a huge difference, and this vinyl is a great price. Painting your stairs banister will also refresh it, and use up the rest of your budget on some plants, prints and new light shades.

Finally, if you've got a larger budget you'll be able to make some big changes to your hallway. Replacing your front door will completely transform the entrance to your home, and add some real curb appeal at the same time. Switching out an old radiator for a more stylish looking one will also have a big impact, and add some new furniture through an armchair and console table.
