Looking for some fun festive crafts you can turn your hand to? Here’s my favourite seven projects I’ve worked on over the years, all of which will get you in the Christmas mood to create some beautiful budget-friendly decorations too.

Eucalyptus garland

This one was so simple (and really fun!) to make! There’s not much to it to be honest, I just grabbed myself my stash of faux eucalyptus stems - fresh would work too though (and smell amazing!) and arranged on our radiator cover in our living room. where we don’t have a fireplace, this is the ‘focal point’ in here, but would look really nice on a lovely mantelpiece. I popped some fairy lights and candlesticks amongst the stems, but anything from extra stems to dried orange slices would work here - you can’t really go wrong!

Wooden bead garland

Another simple idea - string some wooden beads up on a piece of thread or string, popping some woollen tassels every so often along the garland (DIY tutorial on how to make a tassel here) This one is a really beautiful traditional decoration, and perfect for more of a neutral theme - full tutorial on how to make the bead garland here.

Advent calendar

Another really easy one, and budget-friendly as I bet you’ve got most of the bits you need for this laying around the house (or the garden!) too. Pop a small chocolate or treat in each envelope and open each day in the run up to Christmas. Full DIY tutorial is here

Paper trees

One of my favourite crafts ever, these trees are so simple yet effective, and can be made as freestanding trees or even as hanging baubles. They’re literally so simple to make, all you need is some card, scissors and a pritt-stick. You can find the full tutorial here, where there is also a printable Christmas tree template to make this one even easier to recreate! And the best part? These trees can be folded and packed away for next year too.

I love this one so much I even make an Easter version of every year too!

Snowball wreath

How about a door wreath you can re-use again year after year? and the best part? Pom poms are so easy to make, and make the perfect snowball shape for a Christmassy wreath. Full DIY tutorial is here, and I also sell kits containing everything you’ll need to make your own wreath over on Etsy (Ad - Own brand*).

Dried orange garland

I try to do this one every year in the run-up to Christmas, as its a craft that will never fail to get me in the festive mood. But what to do with all those orange slices you've now got laying around? Well here's a super easy project you can complete in no time at all - a dried orange garland. The perfect handmade Christmas decoration, that smells absolutely heavenly. Full DIY tutorial including how to dry orange slices can be found here

Dried orange slice centrepiece

This is a really simple display made using cinnamon sticks, pine cones and orange slices - all things that can be picked up for a few pennies from your local supermarket, or even by going on a walk to your local woodland, for example. Here I've popped a wreath too around it to create more of a fuller look - all the details on this post here
