DIY Autumn decor you can make yourself for pennies

It’s always fun to add some seasonal touches to your home when Autumn comes around - but this doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You can make some simple but effective bits for just a few pounds - and they're all really easy to make too, even if you're a beginner to crafting.

Read on for five budget-friendly crafts and DIYs you can easily craft yourself at home...

Autumn door wreath

No front door is Autumn-ready without a beautiful wreath, I'm sure you'll agree. After last-years failed attempt to make one using real flowers (never again - how do people make it look so easy?!) I decided to try my hand at making one using felt and wool. Not only is this a really fun, relaxing craft, but it'll be something you can bring out year after year.

Doormat

Another really easy way to update your front door for the new season - why not add an Autumn-inspired doormat. Doormats can be quite pricey to buy, so why not make your own?! The good thing about this DIY is that you can easily update it for different seasons, and with different patterns.

All you need to make one of these is a plain door mat (I picked mine up in IKEA for £4.50!) and some black spray paint. You can find the full step-by-step tutorial here, including a printable template to recreate my pumpkin style mat.

Faux leaves display

Another really simple one - grab some autumn stems and put in a vase. I got some artificial ones from Amazon which were just £15 for three, however you could even go foraging for fallen branches.

This idea is perfect for creating a pretty display for your dining table or mantelpiece. I’ve added some fabric pumpkins and a candle to create a simple table display.

DIY fabric pumpkins

One of my favourite crafts, these simple fabric pumpkins are so easy (and fun!) to make. You could add these to a garland or wreath, or just display like I have on their own. These cost me nothing to make as I had all the bits laying around at home.

Autumn leaves garland

Another super simple craft - you can honestly make this in an hour or so and is a lovely way to decorate for the new season. Plus its something you can bring out year after year.

You just need coloured felt, thread and cotton wool to make these. Again, this DIY cost me £0 as I had all of these bits lying around - however you could pick up all these bits for just a few pounds from craft shops or online.
