It's a really simple little DIY, and super cost-effective too - you might even have everything you need laying around at home. And best of all, you can easily change the mounts in the future if your tastes change.
You will need:
White card same size as your frame (mine is A3 size)
Ruler
Pencil
Sharp scissors
Tape
Photo prints in 6x4 inch
How to cut your own mount to size:
Start by taking your piece of A3 card and finding the centre point both widthways and lengthways. Use these measurements to draw a grid on your card and find the centre point.
Then, do the same on the back of your photo, again finding the centre point by drawing a grid. You can then stick masking tape along these two lines on the back of your photo.
Use this tape to stick the photo onto the card, lining up the tape exactly with the grid on the card. This way you can ensure the photo is sitting directly in the middle of the card.
Cut out the opening using a pair of sharp scissors. I made a small hole in one corner, and then carefully slid the scissors into the gap.
Finally stick the photo onto the back of your mount using a couple of small pieces of tape. You'll then just need to pop back into the frame, replace the glass and you're all done!
I've used this method to create a large gallery wall on my stairs - using budget-friendly frames from The Range and black and white prints. You can find a full tutorial with all the measurements I used to create this look on this post here.
What do you think? A really simple, cost effective way of updating your photo frames.
