Recently we celebrated my son's Christening, and held a lovely party afterwards - for which I spent a long time deciding on the decorations. I was on a tight budget, but still wanted to include some pretty centrepieces on each table in the hall.
It can be quite expensive to style a large room for an event, balloon arches can look impressive but take a while to set up, and lots of fresh flowers can be expensive.
So instead, I came up with a really simple idea for decorating each table, which involved some simple Spring flower arrangements. They added a rustic feel and were really quick and easy to put together.
I was really pleased with how these looked, so thought I'd share for anyone also looking to decorate an event on a budget.
How I made some simple Spring table decorations
Everything I bought:
Set of 12 hexagonal jam jars - Hobbycraft, £10
Set of 6 glass bottles - Hobbycraft, £6
10m of blue gingham ribbon - Amazon, £3.29
Set of 10 wood slices - Hobbycraft, £20
Fresh flowers - I bought seven bunches of tulips and nine bunches of gypsophila from a supermarket
How I put the displays together
There’s not much to this to be honest, I simply tied the ribbon into small bows around each of the jars and bottles. I did this in the week before to save preparation time.
Then the day before the christening I filled the jars with fresh flowers I bought from a supermarket. I then filled them with water, and you might like to refresh this the day of to keep them fresh, but it’s not essential.
I had a total of 18 vases of flowers, which I arranged on the tables in sets of three. Each trio of vases sat on top of a wood slice, which were only £2 each, so a real bargain.
I love their rustic feel, very simple but effective, and complimented the blue bunting I strung up around the room.
I was really pleased with how these turned out - a really simple table decoration which would work well for any party or event, even a wedding I think.
Oh and the best part? You get to take them all home afterwards! They’ll last nearly a week if you refresh the water every couple of days.
Thanks for reading,
Sam Xx
